YWTF:What the Folk!
Unplugged Open Mic
7-9 pm (seating at 6:30)
Spencer House Community Centre
5596 Morris Street, Halifax, N.S.
Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month

Well hello gang...
June is busting out all over and that can mean only one thing. A mere two more WTF! nights left until summer break. But don't be sad... these last two nights are going to be exceptional, filling you with enough musical joy to carry you through until September.

On Friday, June 10th we have... back by popular demand... with the theme of TRAINS...
Guest Hosts
THE HALTOWN STOMPERS
who will be sharing their lively raise the roof jug band antics.
For the uninitiated... A jug band is a band employing a jug player and a mix of traditional and home-made instruments. These home-made instruments are ordinary objects adapted to or modified for making sound... like the washtub bass, washboard, spoons, bones, stovepipe and kazoo.

No doubt we'll see some of these wild & crazy instruments and hear some wild & crazy music as these four wild & crazy guys - SeƱor Fantastico, Darth Fiddler, Washboard Jimmie, and Jay Zed take us on a musical TRAIN ride.

Note: I said TRAIN "ride" not TRAIN "wreck"...
... although that could be great fun too :)

Of course... bring a tune or two of your own or a story whether you have a jug or not and join the juggernaut as WTF! hops the TRAINS. And here's a fabulous clip from Fred Eaglesmith with lots of really cool images of vintage TRAINS to get you in the mood. All a-boooooard!

WTF! is an artistic outreach program of the Helen Creighton Folklore Society. Now in its 7th year, WTF! is primarily an acoustic unplugged open-mike session for performers of all ages in the traditional & folk music vein... singers, instrumentalists and storytellers in particular.

Co-hosted by the ever-jovial Cindy Campbell-Stone & Margo Carruthers with occasional guest hosts, WTF! meets every second and fourth Friday of the month at Spencer House Community Centre, 5596 Morris Street in Halifax where sing-a-longs are known to spontaneously erupt and laughter is always a given.

Come anytime after 6:30pm. Entertainment starts around 7:00 and goes until 9:00ish. As always... admission is by free-will donation towards the Society's work. All proceeds from the sale of baked goods and beverages from the Spencer House kitchen will go to help support the operation of Spencer House.

Parking is available on site behind the building after 6:00pm, and on all the neighbouring streets.
