For the Birds! WTF: What the Folk returns to normal? - on April 28

Hello gang....

After much rescheduling over the winter months... WTF! is pleased to announce that we will be resuming our regular schedule - every second and fourth Friday of the month - starting on April 28th until the end of June when we break for our usual summer hiatus.

And speaking of June... WTF! has not had a Guest Host since June 2016... the horror!

Well... that is about to change and in honour of this momentous occasion... and to do my part in helping promote and celebrate National Poetry Month... I have composed a poem to welcome our gulliblevictims (oops! I mean gracious volunteers :)

It was WTF! night and the line-up went right up to Spring Garden Road and back down.
There never had been folkies so keen to be at the front of the crowd.
With limited seating, there was lots of bleating if somebody dared push in line.
To hear the complaining, griping and 'splaining....  you'd think it a capital crime.

A man walking by just had to ask why such a large crowd had been gathered.
Someone jumped in with guitar and a grin and a very sad tale soon unravelled.
"For months now we've suffered through Margo as host enduring her much offbeat humour
But word's going round that a new host's been found... everyone here's heard the rumour."

"And so we await... hoping that Fate will rejuvinate all who have gathered.
Saved from that lass who's a pain in the ass with all of her incessant blather."
Then the door opened wide and what they all saw inside made some of them queasy and wince.
"Margo's absurd! But they're FOR THE BIRDS!! Good grief! It's Pixie and Vince."

And you wonder why it's been a challenge to entice guest hosts of late :)

For the record... the phrase for the birds is an idiom meaning worthless, not to be taken seriously, no good. For example: WTF! is for the birds, let's get the bleep out of here. I'm pretty sure that Vince Morash and Pixie Currie did not have this is mind when choosing the theme; however, if you feel so inclined... in addition to songs and stories celebrating birds and all the things that birdies do like building nests, taking fanciful flights or dropping presents on your head... WTF! invites you to share something absolutely worthless. Like I did with my poem. Go ahead... do your worst :)

Co-hosted by the ever-jovial Cindy Campbell-Stone & Margo Carruthers with occasional guest hosts, WTF!
meets every second and fourth Friday of the month at Spencer House Community Centre, 5596 Morris Street in Halifax where sing-a-longs are known to spontaneously erupt and laughter is always a given.

Come anytime after 6:30pm. Entertainment starts around 7:00
and goes until 9:00ish. As always... admission is by free-will donation
towards the Society's work. All proceeds from the sale of baked goods and beverages from the Spencer House kitchen will go to help support the operation of Spencer House.
